MOSFET-SBD Combination for a Battery Pack: SSM5H14F
A lithium-ion battery pack incorporates a protection circuit that monitors battery charging and discharging to ensure the device safety. If any abnormalities in temperature or current are detected, the protection circuit is activated and blows a fuse.
The SSM5H14F is a compound device that combines an N-channel MOSFET for blowing a fuse and a Schottky barrier diode (SBD) for reverse current protection in a single package. The SSM5H14F helps reduce the size and implementation cost of battery packs.

Features
- Operates at a supply voltage of 1.8 V.
- Combines an N-channel MOSFET and a Schottky barrier diode in a single package.
- Unfailingly blows a fuse in a short time due to low ON-resistance (RDS (ON)) and low forward voltage (VF).
- Small package: SMV (2.9 × 2.8 × 1.1 mm)
- RoHS-compatible
Application Circuit Example
- Fuse-blowing circuit for a battery pack
