Action at the Time of Failure
[As of April, 2011]
When a control limit of a process is exceeded or when there is a problem with the quality of a product being processed, the lot containing the nonconforming item is identified and isolated, and countermeasures and actions are taken immediately according to the flow indicated in Figure 1 below. In addition, the problem description and temporary and corrective actions are reported to relevant departments and documented according to predefined procedures.
If the problem detected in the process has affected products that have already been shipped, the Quality Assurance Department ensures that required corrective measures are taken.
In particular, if a defect occurs that has a great affect on product reliability, the defect is investigated immediately in accordance with predefined procedures and corrective action is taken to prevent reoccurrence. At the same time, recovery action including notification to customers is taken as necessary.
