Ultra-Small Photorelay: TLP3312
Suitable for automatic test equipment (ATE), size-critical electrical equipments or battery operated applications.

Automatic test equipment (ATE) is used for production testing of semiconductor components. To improve test productivity, the ATE has added functionality to measure increasingly greater numbers of pins and components at a time. To cope with this situation, test boards are equipped with more and more switches for selecting signals to be measured. On the other hand, however, owing to the market demand for reducing the size and costs of the ATE, manufacturers can not afford to increase the board size. This is spurring the need for smaller switches. Because photorelays are smaller, faster and more reliable than mechanical relays, they have been widely used for ATE applications. The ultra-small TLP3312 photorelay is specifically designed to meet the need for further size reduction.
The TLP3312 switches with lower LED trigger current and provides faster turn-on and turn-off times than its predecessor, the TLP3212, which is housed in the SSOP4 package. The TLP3312 is housed in the USOP4 package, the smallest package used for Toshiba's photorelays. The USOP4 package reduces board space requirement approximately 25% comparerd to SSOP4 package and is thus ideal for high-density board assembly. The TLP3312 provides a good voltage/current balance, with 60V off-state voltage and 0.4A on-state current, making it an ideal solution not only for ATE applications but also for general-purpose size-critical electrical equipments.
