5-Mbps AC-Input Gate Driver Photocoupler ICs: TLP2095, TLP2098

Toshiba now offers the TLP2095 and TLP2098, high-speed photocouplers ICs with both plus and minus LED inputs. The TLP2095 delivers a high-speed operations of 5 Mbps with buffer logic outputs while the TLP2098 provides inverter logic outputs. When used in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), a variety of logic gates (sink and source) should be found for their input signals; naturally a photocoupler must have a rectifier such as bridge diodes in its previous stage to deal with such a variety. The TLP2095 and TLP2098, however, require no rectifier circuits, thus contribute to reduction in cost for part counts and saving board space. Moreover, the TLP2095 and TLP2098 support a wide range of supply voltage: VCC = 3 to 20 V and guarantee a wide range of the operating temperature: -40 to 100°C. The TLP2095 and TLP2098 also feature thrifty power consumption, having the low input threshold current: IFLH = 3 mA (max.) and the low consumption current: ICC = 3.0 mA (max). They are, therefore, best suited for high-speed digital interface applications such as PLCs, communication equipment and controller units.
