What are the characteristics of light transmission?
Compared with a copper electric wire, light transmission enables longer-distance transmission. Combination with single-mode quartz optical fiber can extend a transmission distance to several tens of kilometers without being relayed.
Secondly, it is more resistant to noise. Other unnecessary signals than those you want to send are usually called "noise." When you send a signal through a general electric wire, many existing electric devices interfere with it, causing "noise." A light signal, however, is free from mutual interference because of its completely different transmission system.
