What is the CIE chromaticity diagram?

The CIE (Commission International de l'Eclairage) chromaticity diagram is a diagram which represents light colors in the xy plane coordinates (see the figure below).

The circumference indicates a wavelength (unit: nm) while monochrome is represented by this wavelength. Non-circumferential colors represent a color mixture, plotting a color temperature curve in the center. This curve mentions the color of a black body at the time of heat radiation.
