TC7750FTG Digital Step-Down DC/DC Converter IC (Under Development)

The TC7750FTG is a digital step-down DC/DC converter, which combines a driver and MOSFETs in a single package. Use of the new DC/DC converter achieves a small-footprint solution for point-of-load (POL) power designs. It supports POLA-compliant communications with a host controller.

Features and General Specifications

PMBus Communication

The TC7750FTG provides communications with a host controller via the POLA-compliant PMBus. The output voltage and the input voltage, current and temperature thresholds for monitoring functions can be programmed via the PMBus to suit the user's needs. The PMBus is an I2C-based three-wire communications protocol that uses the CLK, DATA and ALT signals.

Detection, Protection and Shutdown Features

The TC7750FTG contains a 10-bit A/D converter to convert the input voltage, output voltage, output current and device temperature into digital values for automatic performance optimization via a feedback loop. The voltage, current and temperature thresholds are user-programmable to suit the conditions of the use environment. The TC7750FTG has the following detect and protect functions.

The TC7750FTG is housed in a small QFN28 package. Use of the TC7750FTG will lead to a compact POL power design that occupies very little board space of a power supply unit.
