Influence of Thai Floods: Recovery of Discrete Products’ Production Scale (Report)

Small Signal Devices

We made and urgent investment in increasing production capability. Alternative production has started at our domestic facilities, at Toshiba Electronics Malaysia Sdn.Bhd.(TEM), and through outsourcing, and is currently being ramped up to the same scale as before the floods.

Opto Devices

Alternative production of IC coupler and transistor coupler (surface mount), excluding certain EOL packages, has started at our domestic facilities, and is currently being ramped up to the same scale as before the floods.

Power Device

Alternative production will start at Toshiba Electronics Malaysia Sdn.Bhd.(TEM) and through outsourcing.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you over this long period, production levels will be returned to the same scale as before the floods in April.

We will continue our best efforts to secure stable supply.

• The date and scale of resumption of operation is under consideration.

Heavy rain in southern Thailand from the end of December to the beginning of January had no influence on our both factories and the supply chain.

• The date of resumption of operation is unpredictable at this moment.

• Damage status: Flooding into the industrial park, due to a breach of the water control wall along the channel at the east of the park, was observed at 18:00, Thursday Oct. 20th.Flooding increased this morning, and as of 12:00 the water rose above the sandbags and into the building.
• Operation: The factory is closed until October 24 at earliest. Operation after October 25 will be decided according to the situation.

  We will inform you of our decision regarding a restart of the operation on the 20th and make a decision based on the situation of the afternoon and night of October 19.

  Additional sandbags have been put in place at the factory site.
• Operation: The factory closure has been extended to October 17 at earliest.
